The last few years has seen a new wave of prison literature originating in the Middle East. What characterizes this literature, what connects it to the wider tradition of prison literature, and what does it say about the societies from which it originates?
Lebanese writer Elias Khoury gives an introduction about this new wave within Arabic literature before joining Syrian writer Mustafa Khalifa and Rana Issa – Assistant Professor in translation studies at the American University of Beirut – for a conversation.
The conversation will be in Arabic with interpretation into English.
