Luke Harding and Åsne Seierstad
President Donald Trump does not criticize Russia. He has often spoken in positive terms about Putin. And he has persistently denied that Russia in any way meddled or affected the presidential election, despite the fact that the US intelligence agencies all agree that they did.
In his book Collusion. Secret Meetings, Dirty Money, and How Russia Helped Donald Win, Luke Harding takes a closer look at the ties between Russia and the new American president.
Among his sources are Christopher Steele, the man behind the Trump intelligence reports which are now investigated by the FBI, and the oligarch and billionaire Aras Agalov, who organized the 2013 Miss World competition in Moscow together with Trump.
Combining knowledge from his contacts with interviews and journalist digging, Harding has written a book which reveals connections between Trump’s business dealings and financing of shady Russian sources to today’s FBI investigation of the contacts and activities if Trump’s campaign manager before last fall’s elections.
Harding is an internationally acclaimed journalist, and the author of books such as WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy and A Very Expensive Poison: the Definitive Story of the Murder of Litvinenko. For several years, he worked as the Guardian’s correspondent in Russia, before being expelled from the country in 2011.
Åsne Seierstad is one of Norway’s leading non-fiction writers, the author of books such as One of Us. The Story of Anders Breivik and the Massacre in Norway and The Bookseller of Kabul. A former Moscow correspondent for Dagsavisen, she is currently writing a book about the US. She will meet Harding for a conversation about Trump and the Russians, intelligence and investigative journalism.
The conversation will be in English.
